Meet the NxtGen Staffing principals.

The principals of NxtGen Staffing hold over 30 years of staffing experience. Kat Lin Hurtubise, founder and CEO, strives to connect exceptional humans with exceptional companies.

Kat Lin Hurtubise

Founder & CEO

Kat Lin Hurtubise has over twenty years of experience in the event planning, hospitality, and staffing industries. In 2005, she founded Gourmet Events Hawaii with the goal of providing memorable events and exquisite hospitality.

Ten years later, Aloha Hospitality Professionals was established to elevate Hawaii’s staffing industry and deliver excellence through service to others. She has been named a Pacific Business News (PBN) Women Who Mean Business winner in 2013, 2014, and 2016 and has presented at speaking engagements across the nation. Lin-Hurtubise founded NxtGen Staffing with the goal to deploy exceptional staff nationwide to companies needing hospitality, administration and warehouse support.

She resides in both Honolulu, Hawaii and Mill Valley, California with her husband and two sons. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys hiking and biking with her family.

Steve Scher

Chief Operating Officer

Steve Scher is a successful entrepreneur, serving as CEO and owner of Acrobat Outsourcing for 14 years before joining NxtGen Staffing as its Chief Operating Officer. Specializing in hospitality, food service, convention, and related industries, Acrobat Outsourcing boasts 18 offices nationwide and an impressive customer list including Apple, Google, DropBox, Fairmont and Hyatt, among many others.

During his years of leadership, Scher mastered a proprietary approach that delivers the best ROI in terms of efficiency, loyal employees, unified culture, and long-term profitability. Scher holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and an Associate of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

He currently resides in Hillsborough, California with his wife and their five children. An avid sports fan, Scher enjoys coaching his children’s various sports teams.

Evan Waterbury

Director of Operations

Evan Waterbury has been a leader in the catering, event planning, and hospitality fields for nearly a decade. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Marketing, Waterbury drove Gourmet Events Hawaii and Aloha Hospitality Professionals to new heights through logistical and strategic development.

Waterbury has overseen a wide variety of client portfolios including American Express, Hawaiian Airlines, Tiffany & Co., Four Seasons Resorts, and more. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

An action sports enthusiast, Waterbury loves all things snowboarding, dirt bike riding, and any excuse to be in the water.

Gail Nipitnorasate

Director of Client Services

Gail Nipitnorasate was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where she grew up in her family’s restaurant surrounded by delicious food and spectacular service while attending the University of California, Berkeley. As a result of her upbringings and surroundings, hospitality has always poured through her veins. Upon graduation, she embarked into the event world planning fundraising events for the March of Dimes while moonlighting in the evenings and weekends for some of the largest catering companies in the Bay Area including Global Gourmet Catering, Paula Le Duc Fine Catering, and Taste Catering. After deciding that events were her passion, she continued her development in the industry serving as the Eat Real Festival Food & Beverage Manager working alongside hundreds of vendors before transitioning to Bi-Rite Catering as their Production Manager. In 2016, she took a big leap of faith to move to Honolulu to begin her journeys with Gourmet Events Hawaii where she had the opportunity to work in depth on all levels of the business. 3 years later, she moved back to California to be closer to family and get married to her now amazing husband (and talented Chef!), Greg. In California, she continued to sharpen her skills while working on events for Apple and in sales with Yelp. Today, she is living in Los Angeles and thrilled to be back with Gourmet Events Hawaii to take it to the next level!

To keep herself inspired, she enjoys running and exploring new culinary adventures with her loved ones. There’s nothing quite like a great meal with great people! 

Madeleine Noa

Director of Sales

Madeleine Noa is an accomplished, results-oriented professional with extensive sales experience and a strong marketing background. She is passionate about identifying and closing new business, and winning customer loyalty.

Noa brings over 20 years of sales and management experience to NxtGen Staffing. She has served on the 2020 Executive Women International’s (EWI) Board of Directors and is a recipient of the 2020 Pacific Edge Magazine Women in Business Awards.

In her free time, Noa also supports a variety of Hawaii-based non-profit organizations.

Alysha Toguchi

Talent Acquisition Manager 

Alysha Toguchi, a consummate matchmaker, brings superior recruitment and placement experience to her role at NxtGen Staffing.

She specializes in hiring, executive recruitment, employee management, and retention and is inspired daily to help both candidates and companies succeed by connecting top talent to top companies.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Toguchi currently resides in Los Angeles, California. When she’s feeling adventurous, she enjoys traveling the world and experiencing different cultures. On calmer days, she unwinds by snuggling up with her cats and a good book.
